WORKSHOPS AT HOME

 CREATIVE WRITING 

The workshop to improve literal literacy dealt with creative writing techniques. The students acquired competences to help them get a deeper understanding of the structures of underlying narrative texts as well as competences to help them with their own stories and the writing process.
They learned about how to express feelings, thoughts and emotions through writing, in a way that everyone is capable of understanding. While writing their stories, students were also able to strengthen their language skills. Since the workshops are collaborative and communicative in nature, all participants were able to add depth and complexity to the story by incorporating their own creative ideas.

VISUAL LITERACY WORKSHOP

Another workshop dealt with visual literacy. There the students explored ways of visually narrating a story e.g. through photography, illustrations or comics. Especially for the presentation of their finished stories, it was important to make it visually appealing in a way that compliments their narrations. In the workshop they learned how to find the most suitable approach to translate their story into visual art. To ensure a long-lasting awareness of the project the drawings were even collected to form an exhibition.

DIGITAL LITERACY WORKSHOP

The workshop to improve digital literacy had the goal to promote web-based applications to initiate and carry out the writing process, which means that it strengthened the skills of students in the use of online tools for research and presentation.
It gave them the necessary competences to proficiently engage and evaluate an evergrowing universe of digital information. The final story was even published as an eBook including hyperlinks that enable the reader to further explore aspects of the story, such as sights or historic events.

AUDIO-VISUAL LITERACY WORKSHOP

The last workshop aimed to improve audio-visual literacy. It gave students the necessary skills to bring their stories to the screen or stage. It equipped the participants with abilities to critically access and develop narratives for film or theatre. The Students learned how to show emotions through sounds and how to make their plays and presentation more descriptive with the use of Music.
