OTTA
A representative group of 6 students and 2 teachers from each partner school visited Otta between the 23rd and the 28th of January 2017. Our Norwegian partners created a fabulous programme for the visit which was a great start to the project.
As this was the first meeting of the partners, each school gave a brief introduction to their school and region, followed by a presentation of the 'Literary Hero' they chose to include in the project story.
PILLAR 1: CREATIVE LITERACY
Creative writing has a huge influence on the perception and production of language. Workshops were designed to help native and non-native English speakers to improve language skills and cognitive abilities as well as gaining a deeper understanding of the structures underlying narrative texts.
Students were able to share these skills with peers on their return home and begin work on their story. It was agreed that each school would draft a plan for their complete story and write 3 pages for the next meeting.
ERASMUS+ IN NORWAY
Graf Gebhard, Don Quijote and Peer Gynt meet. Don’t believe it? Then you are not familiar with the new Erasmus+ Project at the HCA-Gymnasium in SulzbachRosenberg. After the “Comenius”- program “A Taste of Different Cultures”, the HCA successfully applied for another EU-funded project aiming to create strategic school partnerships. Under the responsibility of Alexander Voss, students of ninth grade will until the August of 2018 deal with regional legendary heroes. Together with these literary heroes, the students visit each one of their home countries and the partner schools in Norway, Poland, Ireland and Spain. Within the project students not only get to know different cultures and regional features, they also learn how to write a story about local heroes and how to visualize their thoughts through the usage of pictures and words. Workgroups about creative writing and the usage of new media are supposed to translate the stories written by the students themselves into film and drawings.
At their first stop, the students alongside Alexander Voss and Angela Deichler visited Norway. They visited the partner school in Otta, on the edge of Rondane National Park. In workshops, among others with the author Tanja Kjeldset, the HCA students not only presented special features of their home, but also the history of their local hero Graf Gebhard. Their program focused on both fun and culture. They visited the Viking- and Edvard Munch – Museum in Lillehammer and had fun at nightly sleigh-rides.
