BORRISOKANE
The first meeting of the new year took place in Ireland, in January. This was a chance to see how stories and artwork were progressing for each country and to encourage students to think about their narratives from a different perspective.
PILLAR 4: AUDIO-VISUAL LITERACY
Audio-visual literacy is considered a vital part of modern, competence based (foreign) language teaching, as such, students were instructed in how they might bring a performative element to their narratives and film the results.
ERASMUS+ IN IRELAND
In the course of the “Erasmus Plus“ project “Literary Heroes“ six tenth grade students alongside their supervising teachers StR Alexander Voss and OStRin Kerstin Fiedler spent an interesting and diverse week, from 27.01. until 03.03.2018, in Ireland.
Adolescents from several european nations have over a longer period of time created stories about national heroes of their home countries in a creative way, aiming to work out visual forms of presentation for their narrations.
Apart from working on the stories the students were also able to explore the country’s culture. They visited Dublin and Galway, marvel at the rock formations oft he cliffs of Moher and visited Clonmacnoise, an ancient celtic monastery complex at the River Shannon. There were also different athletic activities the students took part in such as learning the basic techniques of Hurling, a form of sport that is typical for Ireland, or Irish dances. During all of those activities the students were able to overcome language barriers among others. Unfortunately, time flies and apart from fish and chips as well as fudge, the students will miss the Irish hospitality and warmth.
